UtiliMap has opportunities for
persons interested in the field of Utility Forestry.
These entry-level Utility Forester positions involve
working as a member of one of our project teams
conducting Electric Utility ROW inspections and audits.
Position Description: The
position involves the field data collection of tree and
site information on both GPS devices and hand-held
computers regarding tree species identification,
evaluation of health and condition, hazard
identification, maintenance needs, and many other
factors. The majority of our clients are utilities who
will utilize the data to assist and/or improve
Right-of-Way management and tree care operations.
However, Utilimap provides a wide range of Utility
forestry services, requiring our field staff to be
flexible, both independently motivated and
team-oriented, with a willingness to travel. Utilimap
has projects in the mid-west and is expanding to other
areas of the country. Field personnel are provided with
a work vehicle and reimbursed for all project-related
expenses while traveling, including fuel, meals, and
lodging.
Position Requirements:
Applicants must be college graduates with a minimum of a
two-year degree in forestry, urban forestry,
horticulture, arboriculture, plant biology,
conservation, environmental science or related fields.
Applicants must have excellent tree identification
skills. Applicants with education/experience
specifically related to Utility forestry will be given
higher consideration. International Society of
Arboriculture (ISA) certification, or willingness to
obtain ISA certification within 6 months, will be
required. Additionally, computer literacy is beneficial
as the work involves the use of advanced technology such
as hand-held computers, GPS technology and equipment,
and GIS and tree management software. A valid driver's
license and good driving record is required.
Physically, the work requires
walking with field equipment (GPS backpack, hand held
computer) for up to 8 hours per day along Utility
Right-of-Way performing the planning, auditing & data
collection.
Advancement: This entry-level
Utility Forester position can lead to additional
opportunities with Utilimap in project management,
Permanent Placement on Utility Forestry Staff, and
contract utility forestry services. This position is
also an excellent stepping stone to a position as a
Utility forester or arborist.
Utilimap is an Equal
Opportunity Employer, Pre-employment Drug Screen
required.
Benefits: Opportunities to
participate in our 401k, and health benefits programs
are offered to all full-time employees after the
standard eligibility period.
